LAFAYETTE COLLECTION: LETTER #14

To: Mr. Rutledge
From: [unknown]
Date: Wednesday at Varniac
In English

Marquis de Lafayette's best compliments visit on Mr. Rutledge and very much laments his having been obliged to leave Paris at the time Mr. Rutledge has reached it. He waited upon him as soon as he knew his arrival but was forced to go the same morning. He will be back in town by the middle of the next week, and will seek the opportunity to see Mr. Rutledge, and inquire after his family, of whom he had the pleasure to hear by the letter which Mr. Rutledge has sent him, but has a great deal to ask from him respecting friends to whom he is so affectionately attached.
