LAFAYETTE COLLECTION: LETTER #5

To: Meslant
From: Lafayette
Date: January 23, 1826
In French

Paris, 30 January 1826

I want to thank you very much, my dear companion in arms, for the wishes you continue to express for me which have been transmitted by your excellent son. Please accept my wishes for your happiness and for the one of Mrs. Meslant. So now you are in your peaceful retirement, I have left La Grange to spend the rest of the winter in Paris and I shall be most anxious to go back to my agricultural occupations. It is always with great pleasure than I shall receive the token of good friendship and that I shall talk to you about the one I have devoted to you with all my heart for a long time.
